2018 Band Camp Next Week!

A Note from the Director

Dear O.N.E. Band Family,

Next week begins our summer marching band camp for the 2018 season. After some productive and promising summer conditioning sessions, along with our drumline camp this week, I am incredibly excited to get started on our field show. Students, please make sure you are beginning to hydrate and getting your sleep schedule in sync. Proper hydration, great nutrition, and sleep are keys to being happy and engaged during camp. Please eat a great protein-based breakfast each morning! Please take a moment to review the schedule for the next couple of weeks and for the regular ‘school’ season.

Camp will take place Monday-Friday next week, from 7am-4pm. We will take a lunch break at 11am-Noon. We are excited to have a BBQ food truck on campus for a tasty $10 lunch on Tuesday and will prepare for something a little bit wet at the end of Friday afternoon. Friday evening is our annual bowling party! Camp continues with mini-sessions the next two weeks on Tuesday and Thursday (Aug 7, Aug 9, Aug 14, Aug 16) and conclude with our March-a-thon and “Meet the Band Night” and band picnic on August 18th.

This season, we are incredibly excited to participate in the Bands of America Super Regional in St. Louis for the first time in school history. This is a big honor to be sharing the stage with many great band programs from across the country. In an effort to not raise our yearly F.A.M.E Fair Share dues, our goal is to fundraise the entirety of the trip (from buses, hotel, meals, and fun). This endeavor will cost within a range of $36,000 to $44,000 max. We encourage every student to participate in collecting pledges for our 1stAnnual March-a-thon, which will take place on August 18th.

Our field show, “Pictures,” will be a powerful and moving experience. It will be exciting to see our students and production grow throughout the season. There is no limit to how good the 2018 Screamin’ Eagles Marching Band can be; it will be a pleasure to see how far we can soar this year. It takes the help and support from an amazing team effort - from administrators, school staff, band staff, students, parents, and friends. Please get involved with the program and enjoy the experience of the O.N.E. Band Family! I am proud to be a part of it!

Have a picture-perfect weekend!

Sincerely,

Mr. McCarty
