Summer Band Camp 2018

The full schedule for our 2018 Summer Marching Band activities is now ready. In order to continue building upon the great success and musical growth we experienced this year, we have made some modifications to our schedule. These changes are to help us both rehearse more efficiently and to develop consistency throughout the season, and we will be better prepared for the big opportunities we have in place next fall! Regardless of whether you are a new or returning member, please make sure to put these dates in your personal and family schedules. Below are the highlights of some of our changes:

Summer Rehearsals (conditioning): Changed to a weekly schedule. This will make it easier for members to stay caught up and in shape even if you miss a couple of weeks due to vacation. We will also be in better fundamental shape before camp. Your individual time has been shortened each rehearsal. Exact dates are on the band schedule.

Percussion Camp: Look for detailed schedules from Mr. McCarty, however the intent is to reduce the full percussion rehearsals in favor of more focused small group rehearsals, so less time overall during the week of percussion camp.

Show Camp: Our actual band "camp" is reduced to 5 days and will be able to be focused on the show.

August Evening Rehearsals: By removing the last Monday / Tuesday of camp we can better use our time elsewhere in the season. Instead of the tiring, long extra 2 days, we will have shorter evening rehearsals (when it is cooler and we are all more awake!).

Meet the Band...Picnic...Instead of an evening event we have moved our preview performance to be part of our Saturday mini-camp.

Evening Rehearsals: We had 3 of those last year and they were very popular and helpful. We have added a couple of evening rehearsals in September. We also have fewer football games so our evening commitments balance out. As ALWAYS we will work with students in activities and athletics with these rehearsals.

Grand Total: With theses changes, there is a grand total of 2 (TWO) hours of rehearsal added to our schedule from last year. The hours are just spread out a little differently to help maximize our success!
